HOW TO BUILD A CONSISTENT MEDITATION PRACTICE
COURSE AUDIOS
When you want to start new routines, it can feel a bit daunting. Where do you start, how do you build it, and how do you create that desire to show up day after day?
In this practical program I share tools to develop a consistent practice, to inspire you to meditate regularly and reap the rewards of all the benefits a meditation practice can give you.
I’ll also talk about some of the challenges that might come up for you when resistance arises and how you can navigate them.
You might be new to meditation, or perhaps you have been meditating for a while on and off, but simply struggled with keeping consistency and you know that meditation can give you many benefits.
Regardless of your experience, my aim is for you to learn how to create a regular habit, and have the tools to be able to build a solid and regular practice, one that supports you in your day to day, helps you to be resilient and develops good mental wellbeing.
Throughout the program, you will experience journaling activities and there are also some simple short meditations that you can use to build up the length of your practice, and a breath exercise to calm your nervous system.
Please Note: This program references the Insight Timer App. All the tips I mention are available on their free part of the platform. You can use these if you wish, however, it’s not a requirement.
LESSON 1 - Why Develop A Regular Practice
In this lesson, you will consider why you want to meditate and the changes you would like to see, as connecting to this will help you to show up to your practice. You will understand why resistance arises, and why having a clear intention and making your practice a priority will assist you when the demands of life and distractions come up.
This course is to inspire you to build a consistent meditation practice. To teach you how to create a habit and give you tools to support you on your meditation journey, so you can reap the rewards of all the benefits it can give you.
LESSON 2 - Your Practice Routine
In this lesson, you will look at how long you should practice for and understand why starting small and realistic and moving up from there benefits you long term. Learn how stacking your practice onto something you do regularly helps you to develop your regular routine. You will also explore what time of day you will practice and where. At the end of the session the aim is to have an outline and clarity of your practice routine.
LESSON 3 - 5 Minute Starter Meditation – Breath + Awareness
In this lesson, you will share in a practice to support you if you need a brief reset in your day or if you’re new to meditation and you would like to begin to regulate your practice with a shorter timeframe. It brings awareness to your breath, your body and your state of being.
LESSON 4 - How Long Will It Take To Build Consistency? Setting A Clear Intention
In this lesson, you will learn how long it takes to build a regular habit and what beneficial changes to expect in your brain over a period of time. You will also understand how to notice when the advantages of your practice show up in your daily life.
You will set a clear intention for your meditation practice.
LESSON 5 - What If I Have A Setback? Plus Other Obstacles
In this lesson, you will learn what to do if you have a setback, and how to navigate resistance. You’ll understand some of the mindset obstacles that can arise and ways that you can reframe them. In addition, you will be taught how to acknowledge and manage challenging emotions if they come up during your practice.
LESSON 6 - 10 Minute Expanded Meditation – Breath + Awareness
In this lesson, you will share in a 10 minute meditation practice. If you have been practicing the 5 minute meditation, this is an expanded version that you can use to regulate your meditation sessions with a longer time frame. Alternatively, you can also begin here. It’s also a good time frame if you haven’t got much time in your day. This practice brings awareness to your breath, your body and your state of being.
LESSON 7 - Ways To Support Yourself And Your Practice
In this lesson, you will look at how teachers can support you on your meditation journey and how creating community helps keep you motivated. You also begin to understand that other people experience the same things you do and know that we all have the same challenges and struggles with meditation.
You will also learn how journaling can benefit your practice and your understanding of yourself.
LESSON 8 - Movement + Breathwork To Help You To Meditate
In this lesson, we’ll explore the tools of movement and breathwork to help slow down the momentum that we bring with us into meditation. It helps you to calm the body, mind, and nervous system so you can then feel more present. You will experience a simple breath practice that you can use before your meditation practice, or at any time in your day if you want to bring in a sense of calm.
LESSON 9 - You’re Ready - Lets Bring It All Together
In this lesson, you will reflect on all that you have learned. You are now prepared to create more consistency with meditation, as well as have resources that you can use to support you and know what to do if you have a setback. You will understand that it’s important to have a practice that works for you and your life and that you can experiment with your practice as you evolve.
